Mythic Quest Everlight Review Every Job Should Have a LARP Day

gaming video game office comedy

mythic quest dropped a special episode between seasons and its basically an argument for why every workplace needs a larp day. im sold.

the everlight episode takes the whole poppy and ian dynamic and puts it in a fantasy setting where the games characters come to life for an office wide roleplay event. its exactly as chaotic and hilarious as that sounds.

IGN praised the episode for maintaining the shows character work while doing something completely different structurally.

what makes it work is that the show already established these characters over a full season. so when you see them in wizard robes or fighting imaginary monsters the comedy comes from knowing who they are underneath.

gaming culture has always had this blend of serious business and pure escapism and mythic quest gets that.

rob mcelhenney and the team clearly had a blast making this. you can feel it in every scene. the energy is infectious even when the jokes dont all land.

its also like 30 minutes long so theres no reason not to watch it if youre even mildly curious about the show. consider it a sampler before committing to the full series.

the main takeaway though is that team building events should involve costumes and foam swords. productivity would skyrocket. probably.

special episode aired april 2021
