Concert crowd with lights

Yall. YALL. I was just minding my business scrolling through Good Morning America clips when Taylor Swift casually dropped the announcement that shes releasing not one but TWO Eras Tour projects on Disney+ and I genuinely had to sit down.

First we got “Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour | The End of an Era” which is a six-part docuseries. SIX PARTS. Thats six episodes of behind-the-scenes footage from what was literally the biggest tour in music history. And then on top of that theres “Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour | The Final Show” which is the full concert film from the last night in Vancouver. The whole thing. Including the Tortured Poets Department set that wasnt in the original Eras Tour movie.

Both drop December 12th on Disney+ with two episodes of the docuseries releasing each week after that.

According to Variety’s coverage, the docuseries features Gracie Abrams, Sabrina Carpenter, Ed Sheeran, Florence Welch, and yes – Travis Kelce. TRAVIS IS IN THE DOCUMENTARY. The timeline of their relationship playing out through behind-the-scenes tour footage? The romantic comedy vibes of it all? Im not gonna survive this.

Taylor posted on Instagram saying “It was the End of an Era and we knew it. We wanted to remember every moment leading up to the culmination of the most important and intense chapter of our lives, so we allowed filmmakers to capture this tour and all the stories woven throughout it as it wound down. And to film the final show in its entirety.”

Now look. I know some people are gonna be like “another Taylor Swift project? We just got The Life of a Showgirl album” and to those people I say… and? Let the woman document her historic achievements. The Eras Tour grossed over $2 billion. BILLION with a B. It ran for 149 shows across nearly two years. It literally changed how we think about concert tours and their economic impact on cities.

The first Eras Tour concert film that dropped in 2023 became the highest-grossing concert movie ever in theaters. When it hit Disney+ in April 2024 it got 4.6 million views in just three days according to Deadline. So yeah. People want this content. Disney knows it. Taylor knows it. Everybody knows it except the haters and they not invited to this conversation anyway.

What Im most excited about honestly is seeing the behind-the-scenes stuff. We got glimpses on social media throughout the tour but a full documentary with proper access? Getting to see how they put together those elaborate costume changes? The choreography rehearsals? The emotional moments with the dancers and band? Give it to me directly into my veins please and thank you.

The Final Show concert film is also gonna hit different because that Vancouver show was WILD. 45 songs. The full Tortured Poets Department set which had the “Female Rage: The Musical” segment that wasnt in the original movie. The surprise song medleys of “A Place in This World” with “New Romantics” and “Long Live” with “New Year’s Day.” It was a whole moment and now we all get to experience it.

Don Argott directed the docuseries with Sheena M. Joyce co-directing. Glenn Weiss directed the Final Show film. These are serious documentary and live event filmmakers so the production quality is gonna be there.

The timing is interesting too coming right after The Life of a Showgirl broke records with over 4 million equivalent album units in the US. Taylor is basically dominating every entertainment platform simultaneously. Music. Film. Streaming. Probably whatever comes next. The woman does not rest.

Im already planning my December 12th viewing party. Got my friendship bracelets ready. Got my tissues ready because we all know Im gonna cry when she performs “Long Live” for the last time. Got my Disney+ subscription that I definitely didnt keep active specifically for this moment even though I told myself I was canceling after finishing The Bear.

See yall on the other side of this emotional experience. And if youre somehow not a Swiftie yet… this might be the thing that converts you. Consider yourself warned.
