Rock That Looks Like Cookie Monster Could Be Worth More Than 10K

okay so someone found a rock that looks EXACTLY like cookie monster and honestly its the most 2021 thing ive seen all week. the internet is losing its collective mind over this geode and apparently collectors are willing to pay serious money for it.

Colorful crystal geode rock

the rock was discovered in brazil and when you crack it open there are these blue crystals inside that form a pattern that looks EERILY like the beloved sesame street character. two round eyes and a big open mouth. its uncanny. nature really said “me want cookie” and made it happen.

gem collectors and internet people alike have been going wild. estimates put the value at over $10000 which seems insane for a rock but then again people pay way more for way dumber things. at least this one is genuinely unique and amusing.

the blue crystals are apparently a type of quartz. how they arranged themselves into this specific pattern is just random chance over millions of years. the odds of this happening are astronomical. and yet here it is. cookie monster frozen in stone for eternity.

Rock and mineral collection

similar “pareidolia rocks” – thats the fancy term for seeing faces in random patterns – have sold for big money before. theres apparently a whole market for rocks that look like things. jesus toast but make it geology. people are weird and i love it.

the current owner hasnt confirmed if theyre selling. smart move actually. the longer they wait the more viral it goes and the higher the price climbs. basic supply and demand. theres only one cookie monster rock and everyone wants to see it. When nostalgia characters dominate even streaming wars, this kind of crossover appeal makes sense.

will this rock end up in a museum? some rich persons collection? sitting on a shelf in brazil forever? who knows. but for now its bringing joy to millions of people who scrolled past it on their phones and thought “huh thats neat” before continuing with their day.

sometimes thats enough. sometimes a rock that looks like a muppet is exactly what we need. me love geology.
