Okay fellow demigods listen up. Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 drops December 10th on Disney+ and if youre still holding onto trauma from that 2013 Sea of Monsters movie… its time to heal. Rick Riordan himself has been involved in every step of this adaptation and according to Disney’s official announcement this season is gonna do the book justice.

The premise: Camp Half-Blood’s protective border has been breached. Grover is missing. The only thing that can save camp is the legendary Golden Fleece which happens to be located in… you guessed it… the Sea of Monsters. Percy has to team up with Annabeth, Clarisse, and his newfound cyclops half-brother Tyson to complete the quest before Luke and the Titan Kronos can execute their plan to destroy Olympus.

Walker Scobell, Leah Sava Jeffries, and Aryan Simhadri are all returning as our main trio. Daniel Diemer joins the cast as Tyson which is huge because Tyson is one of the most beloved characters in the whole series. Getting his casting right was essential and from what weve seen in the trailer it looks like they nailed it.

According to Deadline’s coverage, the season has 8 episodes just like Season 1. The release schedule is two episodes on December 10th then one new episode every Wednesday through January. Weekly releases which I actually prefer for this show because it gives the fandom time to theorize and discuss between episodes.

The casting announcements have been wild. Courtney B. Vance is playing Zeus taking over for the late Lance Reddick. Andra Day is Athena. Timothy Simons from Veep is playing Tantalus the interim camp director while Chiron is mysteriously absent. And get this – Sandra Bernhard, Kristen Schaal, and Margaret Cho are playing the Gray Sisters. You know the three women who share one eye and drive the taxi from hell. That casting is PERFECT.

What Im most excited about is seeing the chariot races. The 2013 movie completely cut that scene and it was devastating because thats such an iconic part of the book. This time they actually built a quarter-mile track and used real horses. The production value increase from Season 1 is apparently significant which makes sense given how much of this season takes place on or near the ocean.

Theres also the Sirens scene between Percy and Annabeth which is one of the most emotionally important moments in the whole book series. Its where we really start to understand Annabaths deepest fears and desires. Getting that scene right is crucial for setting up the romance that develops in later books.

Oh and Season 3 has already been greenlit. Theyre currently filming in Vancouver and it’ll adapt The Titan’s Curse. Levi Chrisopulos and Olive Abercrombie have been cast as Nico and Bianca di Angelo which… if you know you know. Those characters are so important to the overall series and the fandom has been waiting years to see them on screen.

The trailer that dropped in November already has over 135 million views across social media according to Wikipedia. Thats a 60% increase compared to the Season 1 trailer. The hype is real. The fandom is fed. Rick Riordan is finally getting the adaptations his books deserve after years of disappointment.

December 10th yall. Mark your calendars. Stock up on blue food. Its time to return to Camp Half-Blood.
