Cloud Contact Center Talkdesk Raises 143 Million at a 3 Billion Valuation

Talkdesk just raised 143 million at a 3 billion dollar valuation. Cloud contact center software is apparently a very good business to be in right now.

The company provides the software that powers customer service call centers. When you call a company and navigate through menus then talk to an agent thats often running on systems like Talkdesk.

Forbes reported on the funding round and the companys growth trajectory.

Pandemic acceleration pushed more companies to cloud-based solutions. Remote work meant call center agents needed systems that worked from anywhere not just office phone banks.

Cloud infrastructure companies benefited enormously from the remote work shift. Talkdesk rode that wave.

The contact center market is massive and fragmented. Legacy systems from the pre-cloud era still dominate many enterprises. That represents opportunity for modern alternatives.

Three billion valuation puts pressure on the company to grow into it or go public. At some point investors want returns not just growth stories.

Talkdesk competes with Five9 which Zoom tried to acquire and Genesys and various others. The space is crowded but the market is big enough for multiple winners.

Funding announced August 2021
