Capitol Rioter Wore Jacket With Phone Number on Back: Feds

US Capitol Building

Okay so. I genuinely cannot make this up.

An Ohio man who kicked in a window at the Capitol during the January 6th riot was identified by the FBI because — and I need you to really sit with this for a second — he was wearing a jacket with his business phone number printed on the back. His business. Phone number. On his back. While committing federal crimes. On camera.

Troy Faulkner runs a painting company called, wait for it, Faulkner Painting. The jacket literally said “FAULKNER PAINTING” with a phone number ending in 6985. The FBI’s affidavit is genuinely hilarious reading if youre into that kind of thing. They basically said “yeah we saw the jacket, googled the number, found the guy.”

But it gets better. A local cop who had arrested Faulkner before saw him in the YouTube videos and was like “oh yeah thats definitely Troy.” Small towns man. You cant hide from anything.

According to Washington Post’s arrest tracker, Faulkner actually called the FBI himself on January 13th to admit he was there. Which… I mean at that point what else are you gonna do. Your phone number was literally on national television.

His Facebook page reportedly had “White Lives Matter” content and posts supporting the riot. He told a local news outlet he “knew he shouldnt have kicked the window” but he was upset because, get this, police used tear gas on the mob. The tear gas made him irrational apparently. Sure Troy. Sure.

Hes now facing charges including destruction of government property, obstruction of an official proceeding, and unlawful entry. The destruction charge alone can carry up to 10 years.

And look I know we’re supposed to be objective journalists or whatever but theres something deeply funny about a guy advertising his small business while attempting to overthrow the government. Like sir this is not a networking event. This is sedition.

The FBI is still looking for hundreds of other rioters btw. Tips can be submitted at tips.fbi.gov. Might wanna check if any of them are wearing name tags.
