300K Stranger Things Fans Want Those Cut Scenes and Honestly? Fair

Oh boy. Oh boy oh boy oh boy.
The Stranger Things fandom has fully lost it and you know what I’m not even gonna judge because three years is a LONG time to wait for a final season and if the ending doesnt hit right people are gonna have feelings about it.
So heres whats happening. Volume 2 dropped Christmas Day right? And immediately the internet started screaming about something called Cutgate. Over 300,000 people have now signed this Change.org petition demanding Netflix release scenes they think got cut from the final episodes.
Three hundred thousand signatures. In like four days. Thats… thats alot of people who feel some type of way about Stranger Things.
The theory and look I’m just reporting what people are saying here okay dont @ me. The theory is that significant storylines got chopped. Deeper stuff between Will and Mike. A fake out death for Will that wouldve hit different. Character moments the cast seemed to be teasing in interviews that just… never showed up on screen.
Theres this Google doc floating around. Anonymous source supposedly leaked details to various fan accounts. Is it real? Is it fanfiction that got out of hand? Nobody knows for sure but when youve been invested in something for ten years and the payoff feels off your brain starts looking for explanations.
TV Insider talked to the petition organizer who goes by Wennii J. “This has been a long 10-year process, and this is what we get. Everyone is clearly dissatisfied with this season.”
I mean. Not EVERYONE. Some people liked it fine presumably.
But the complaints are all over the place. How they handled Wills coming out. Plot holes that seem weirdly obvious. The pacing feeling rushed in some spots and draggy in others. Cast members in interviews describing scenes nobody can find in the actual episodes.
That last part is what really has people spiraling. When actors talk about shooting stuff that doesnt make the cut thats usually just how TV works. But the specific way some of these interviews line up with what fans expected to see… I kinda get why people are suspicious.
The drummer from the Cookers wait no thats a different story hold on.
Randy Havens who plays Mr Clarke hasnt said anything publicly. The Duffer Brothers apparently debunked some runtime claims months ago but nobody really listened because the vibes were already off.
Look I’ve covered enough streaming drama to know that sometimes a disappointing ending is just a disappointing ending. Not everything is a conspiracy. Sometimes writers make choices and fans hate those choices and theres no deeper scandal.
But also. 300,000 people signing a petition in four days suggests something genuinely missed the mark here. You dont get that kind of coordinated frustration from nothing.
The finale drops New Years Eve. Maybe itll fix everything. Maybe itll make things worse. Either way Stranger Things discourse is about to get even stranger lol sorry I had to.
The internet is gonna internet. And right now the internet really really wants to see whatever Netflix supposedly cut.
