Le Creuset partnered with MLB to release team-branded Dutch ovens and Im not sure who asked for this but apparently someone did.
The collection features Dutch ovens in team colors with MLB logos. Your favorite team on your favorite overpriced cookware. The crossover event nobody predicted.
Le Creuset has the full collection with all participating teams.
These already expensive items get a premium for the licensing. Le Creuset is never cheap but adding a Yankees logo makes it even less cheap. Thats how licensing works.
Kitchen purchases are one of those adult things that somehow become exciting after a certain age.
The limited edition nature means these will sell out and then appear on eBay for even more money. Collectors gonna collect.
As a practical matter a Dutch oven with a Cubs logo cooks the same as one without. The functionality is identical. Youre paying for the aesthetic and the conversation piece.
Gift potential is real though. Know someone who loves both baseball and cooking? This is a memorable present. Specific and thoughtful even if ridiculous.
Le Creuset seems to do a new collaboration every few months now. The brand building is working because people keep buying.
