The Batman Teaser Trailer Robert Pattinson Is a Broody Brutal Dark Knight as He Gets His Detective Mode On to Catch a Killer Watch Video

Holy hell that trailer.
DC dropped the first real look at The Batman during DC FanDome and Robert Pattinson absolutely crushed any remaining doubts about his casting. The dude looks like he hasnt slept in months which is exactly right for this version of Bruce Wayne.
Director Matt Reeves is clearly going for something different here. This isnt your dads Batman. Its noir. Its grimy. Its a detective story first and a superhero movie second. The Riddler is leaving cyphers at crime scenes and Batman has to actually solve puzzles instead of just punching his way through problems.
The footage shows Pattinson stalking through Gotham like a nightmare. That scene where he walks through gunfire without flinching then beats the absolute snot out of those thugs? Chef kiss. And when the last guy standing asks “who are you?” Pattinsons response – “Im vengeance” – delivered in this raspy barely controlled rage.
I got chills. Actual chills.
The suit looks incredible too. More tactical than previous versions. The cape has this weight to it. And the Batmobile is basically a muscle car with a jet engine strapped to it which is objectively the coolest design theyve done yet.
Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman. Paul Dano as Riddler. Colin Farrell completely unrecognizable as Penguin. Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon. This cast is stacked.
The superhero genre needs fresh takes to stay relevant and this looks like exactly that. Reeves said in interviews hes inspired by Chinatown and Zodiac as much as any previous Batman film. You can see it in the washed out color palette and the focus on investigation over spectacle.
The trailer uses Nirvanas “Something in the Way” which fits the mood perfectly. This Bruce Wayne seems genuinely damaged not just sad rich boy damaged.
October 2021 cant come soon enough. Oh wait they delayed it to March 2022. Of course they did. Everything gets delayed now.
