Would-be Brooklyn robber loses his shorts, leaves empty-handed

A would-be Brooklyn robber not only left empty handed after his victim repeatedly fought him off — but also briefly lost his shorts amid the struggle.

The caught-on-camera confrontation unfolded as the suspect tried to steal money from a 25-year-old man on 54th Street near 7th Avenue in Sunset Park at about 2:40 p.m. on July 12, according to police.

The suspect knocked the victim to the ground and unsuccessfully tried to steal the victim’s cash as he dragged him on the sidewalk, according to the surveillance footage provided by police.

During the robbery attempt, the suspect’s shorts slip down, revealing his underwear, the video shows.

A few men are then seen coming to the victim’s aid, interrupting the suspect who hops up to the sidewalk and pulls his shorts back up, according to the video.

The assailant later gave up and fled in a white SUV southbound on 7th Avenue, police said. He was still being sought by police as of late Monday.

The victim suffered some cuts to his back, elbows and knees and was taken to an area hospital in stable condition, police said.
