A former commander of the U.S. Army in Europe has warned that it is very likely that the United States will be at war with China in the next 15 years.
Retired Lt. Gen. Ben Hodges said that the European allies will have to do more to ensure their own defenses in face of a resurgent Russia as America will need to put more focus on defending its interests in the Pacific region.
“The U.S needs a very strong European pillar and I think in the next 15 years, it is not inevitable, but it is very likely that the U.S will have a war with this Asian country- China” he said at the Warsaw Security Forum. This is a two-day gathering of leaders, military and political experts from central Europe.
He added that the United States does not have the capacity to do everything it has to do in Europe and in the Pacific to deal with the Chinese threat.
