Raptors will use all-women's broadcast team on March 24 vs. Nuggets

Representation matters and women continue to be an inextricable, essential part of the Toronto Raptors experience. From the legion of smart, nuanced fans online, to the growing number of top-tier journalists, women continue to bring added perspective and a level of intelligence that makes the Raptors community a smarter, more well-rounded space to consume the sport.

Now, the Raptors are going one step further by producing an all-women’s broadcast for the March 24 game against the Denver Nuggets. In conjunction with TSN, Meghan McPeak, Kia Nurse, Kayla Grey, Kate Beirness and Amy Audibert will be the game’s broadcast team.

Grey and Beirness are TSN on-air reporters, Nurse stars in the WNBA for the Phoenix Mercury and is a regular contributor at TSN, McPeak became the first woman to operate as a play-by-play announcer in the G-League in 2015, while Audibert is a colour commentator and analyst for the Raptors 905.

McPeak will be on the play-by-play, Nurse will be an analyst, Grey will operate as the sideline reporter, while Beirness and Audibert will host and provide additional analysis.

It’s an awesome and long-overdue development from broadcast media, and these five women are at the top of their field. Congratulations to all five women named to the broadcast team, as the rest of sports media needs to continue to push for a more inclusive environment in the industry.
