Chase Elliott hit the lottery in his home state Thursday night. The Georgia native drew the No. 1 spot for Sunday’s Folds of Honor QuikTrip 400 at Atlanta Motor Speedway in a random selection.
Aric Almirola will join Elliott on the front row. The Stewart-Haas driver is still looking for his first top-five finish of the season. His best finish was seventh for the weeknight Darlington race in May.

Joey Logano, Kyle Busch and Clint Bowyer drew the rest of the top five. Logano and Elliott possibly being nose to tail for the start of the race at the 1.54-mile AMS could be interesting. Elliott slid into Logano while the two drivers were battling for the win with three laps to go at Bristol Motor Speedway on Sunday. Both cars wrecked, which allowed Brad Keselowski to steal the win.
Logano and Elliott discussed the crash after the race, with Logano later telling FS1 he was not pleased that Elliott didn’t immediately apologize for causing the crash.

The Folds of Honor QuikTrip 400 is scheduled for Sunday, June 7, at with the green flags scheduled for 3:25 p.m. ET (Fox, PRN) at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
