Lynda Carter returns for ‘Wonder Woman 3’ as her ‘legacy’

Up, up and away!

“Wonder Woman” alum Lynda Carter is returning to the DC universe.

Carter, 70,  — who starred as the Amazonian superhero in the eponymous TV series from 1976 to 1979  — will next be in the upcoming film “Wonder Woman 3.”

The actress is set to reprise her role as Asteria after she made the memorable cameo in last year’s “Wonder Woman 1984.”

Carter and director Patty Jenkins attended the DC FanDome 2021 event on Saturday where they revealed some new details about the movie. While star Gal Gadot could not make an appearance, Jenkins, 50, revealed that the cast was “super excited about ‘Wonder Woman 3.’”

“Gal, who’s so bummed not to be here, who’s the busiest person in the world, with now three little kids and shooting, so she was so bummed not to be able to be here,” Jenkins said. “But we are all three very excited about some exciting things coming up with ‘Wonder Woman 3.’”

Carter chimed in, “I know what it was like from the inside out. I know what the legacy meant to me, and when I created the character, it wasn’t on the comic book page — her kindness and her goodness. Her strength was her Lasso of Truth … and that meant something to me.”

“Who would have thought in my life — at this time in my life — that this gift would just present itself to me, and that’s so cool,” she added. “And that’s what I’m hoping for all of the fans of ‘Wonder Woman’ … to know that your life is full of surprises, and the Wonder Woman in you is alive and well.”

“Wonder Woman 1984” also starred Chris Pine, Kristen Wiig, Pedro Pascal, Kristoffer Polaha, Robin Wright and Connie Nielsen. The flick was supposed to debut in theaters in summer 2020, however, the premiere was moved to December due to the pandemic.

Carter shared a fun tidbit with fans in July 2020. She revealed on social media that she stills has her iconic gold Wonder Woman bracelets.

“I think there’s a certain association between a superhero and her costume or accessories that makes the bracelets so appealing. Here’s the secret, though: it was never about the bracelets,” Carter captioned a photo at the time.

“The power of Wonder Woman lies within every woman and girl who dares to be bold and brave in this world,” she added.
