Jussie Smollett from Empire fame is continuing his fight to get Chicago’s lawsuit to get dismissed. The ex-Empire star earlier claimed that he is being a victim of a hate crime. Following this, the City of Chicago hired policemen to investigate this case and find out the truth. Later the whole thing turned out to be fake as Jussie Smollett only faked being a victim of a hate crime.
Jussie Smollett claimed that in the early morning of January 29th racist and homophobic assailants attacked him. The whole act bought him into a lot of limelight. Chicago’s cops treated this case as a hate crime, the department hired a total of 25 Policemen on the case who contributed their 1860 hours in order to investigate the case that turned out to be fake.

The case got sealed in March but now the police officers are looking to retrieve over $100,000 as a cost of their detectives and policemen that they have invested into this fake case. But as reported Jussie Smollett has refused to pay any of the money to the City of Chicago. And as reported by Deadline, in this scenario the department can demand three times the money.
“The City’s Complaint appears to be an unprecedented effort to seek penalties and resources expended in connection with allegedly false statements made to the police where the related criminal case concerning the statements was dismissed …on all counts,” this is what attorney declared in their paperwork for Smollett.
