The case got sealed in March but now the police officers are looking to retrieve over $100,000 as a cost of their detectives and policemen that they have invested into this fake case. But as reported Jussie Smollett has refused to pay any of the money to the City of Chicago. And as reported by Deadline, in this scenario the department can demand three times the money.

“The City’s Complaint appears to be an unprecedented effort to seek penalties and resources expended in connection with allegedly false statements made to the police where the related criminal case concerning the statements was dismissed …on all counts,” this is what attorney declared in their paperwork for Smollett.
