Iron Fist’s Finn Jones Says Season 3 Would Have Featured Orson Randall

Before its cancellation, plans had already been drawn up for a third season of Marvel’s Netflix series Iron Fist and star Finn Jones has revealed it would have introduced Orson Randall.

Iron Fist generally did not live up to the standard set by the other MCU Netflix series, failing to impress many viewers in its first season. The second season was an improvement. While it may not have been enough to endear many fans to the series, its conclusion certainly left audiences more hopeful for the third season.

Unfortunately, that third season never materialized and the character’s MCU future remains uncertain. However, star Finn Jones has revealed there were plans to follow up on the second season’s cliffhanger ending, which teased a hunt for Orson Randall.

While he did not appear in the first two seasons of Iron Fist, Orson Randall’s name was mentioned in Season 2, setting up the planned third season as Finn Jones has now revealed.

In Marvel’s comic book continuity, Orson Randall is another Immortal Iron Fist. He was born in the city of K’un-Lun, where Danny Rand gained the Iron Fist, and made use of two handguns that he would charge with chi to fire “lightning from God.” Danny Rand was seen using Randall’s signature weapons at the very end of Iron Fist Season 2.

In a recent interview with ComicBook.com, Finn Jones revealed the direction Iron Fist Season 3 would have taken:

“And the second season was really all about course correction. It was like, how do we just change the course and the conversation around this show, and just bring it up to a place that we can feel proud of. And then we can take the show in the direction that we really want to take it in.

“Raven especially wanted to see Danny and Ward off in distant lands fighting crime and having the guns and the Orson Randall and that kind of persona. And then Colleen would be in New York with the Iron Fist, kind of coming to terms with that responsibility. And then eventually over I think the course of that season, they would find each other again and become whole.”

As well as introducing Orson Randall, it sounds like Season 3 would have further explored the new life of Jessica Henwick’s Colleen Wing, who gained the powers of the Iron Fist in Season 2. Marvel has revealed Netflix’s Daredevil is getting a Disney Plus revival in the form of Daredevil: Born Again, so maybe there is still hope for the return of Iron Fist and the MCU debut of Orson Randall.

Ahead of Born Again, Charlie Cox will be reprising his role as Matt Murdock, who fought alongside Finn Jones’ Danny Rand in The Defenders, in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. Here’s the synopsis:
