Human remains found in two suitcases on trail in Denver

Human remains were found stuffed in two suitcases on a trail in Denver, authorities said.

The luggage was discovered by two Parks and Recreation workers plowing snow near the Sanderson Gulch Trail around 7:15 a.m. Tuesday, the Denver Post reported.

Police called to the scene opened the suitcases and found human remains inside, authorities said.

The medical examiner confirmed remains belonged to an adult man, though has not been able to determine his identity or how he died, the outlet reported.

Denver police Lt. Matt Clark said the victim appeared to be “recently deceased.”

Clark said they are investigating the case as a homicide and are looking into whether any missing persons cases elsewhere match the description of the remains.

“It’s a potential that this press briefing might spark that call that we’re waiting for,” Clark said.
