Denny Hamlin, Bubba Wallace present Michael Jordan Bulls-themed car for 23XI Racing

23XI Racing, the new NASCAR Cup Series team co-owned by Michael Jordan and Denny Hamlin, on Friday revealed the design of its No. 23 car, which will be driven by Bubba Wallace.

The red, black and white paint scheme is reminiscent of the Bulls colors Jordan wore in his playing days, with the number on the side of the car even being framed like a jersey.

Wallace and Hamlin presented the car at Charlotte Motor Speedway on “CBS This Morning,” in the same market where Jordan owns an NBA team, the Charlotte Hornets.

Along with the reveal of the car came the reveal of its manufacturer, Toyota, and 23XI’s technical alliance with Joe Gibbs Racing, the team for which Hamlin has driven since 2005.

Later Friday, Hamlin revealed that Mike Wheeler will be the team’s crew chief. Wheeler was Hamlin’s crew chief from 2016-18. Hamlin won five races during that stretch.

Wallace, NASCAR’s lone Black full-time driver, is the only driver with 23XI racing. He made waves this season after calling for NASCAR to ban Confederate flags and showing support for the Black Lives Matter movement with his No. 43 car. Wallace will debut the No. 23 car at the Daytona 500 in February 2021.
