Ryan Garcia and Luke Campbell have a new date for their much-anticipated fight. The two were originally supposed to meet on December 5; however, the Englishman tested positive for COVID-19 and could not make the fight-date. There were no rumors of a replacement fighter, and the plan was always to reschedule it. Now the pair finally have a new date for 2021.
Initially, there were rumors of the fight happening on the Canelo return card. However, it is now confirmed that they will instead fight on their own card as the main event. The fight will take place on January 2, 2021. The two will compete for the WBC interim title, and DAZN will stream the event exclusively on their service.
Ryan Garcia is raring to get back after his shut-out win over Francisco Fonseca. Speaking to DAZN, Ryan Garcia said, “My mindset going into this fight hasn’t changed, and my training hasn’t stopped. I’m excited we have a new date and can finally bring this to the fans. I’m here, and I’m ready to ring in the new year with a victory … let’s go!”
The Englishman also spoke to DAZN. His words let fans believe that he has completely recovered and is raring to go. He said, “New date, new year, same result, I’m fully back in training and have never felt better. What a way to start 2021 this is going to be with a clinical Luke Campbell win.”
