A few PS5 games will also be on the PS4, Sony says

Sony just made the mental calculus of whether or not it’s worth becoming a PlayStation 5 early adopter a little more difficult following an announcement that a few of its next-gen games will also be available for the PS4.

We already knew this would be the case for Spider-Man: Miles Morales, but two more titles can now be added to the list: Sackboy: A Big Adventure, and Horizon Forbidden West. The PS5 versions of these games, however, will take advantage of next-gen features like the console’s high-speed SSD. Plus, there are upgrade options for anyone on the PS4 according to the PlayStation blog.

“The PS4 digital versions of launch games include a free upgrade on both PS5 consoles, while the PS4 disc versions of these games include a free upgrade on the PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-Ray disc drive,” Sony said.

Folks buying these games can expect price hikes as well, with Sony stating that first-party titles will retail at $69.99. The PS5 will launch on Nov. 12 alongside Astro’s Playroom, Demon’s Souls, Destruction All Stars, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Sackboy: A Big Adventure.
